Sony Ericsson W595

The all new Sony Ericsson W595 is a cute and attractive slider phone that comes in with an FM radio, 3.2 megapixel camera with a 2GB memory card and of course an outstanding sound system associated with the Walkman 3.0 music player unique to Sony Ericsson. The other features for the 3G (with HSDPA) enabled phone include Bluetooth and its ultra cool shake control feature. One has a wide variety of choices when it comes to colors being offered and they include Blue, Black, White, Grey with a floral pattern (Sakura).

<a rel="nofollow"href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Sony-Ericsson-W595.jpg">

The first look of the phone would surprise and even deceive you owing to the huge amount of resemblance it bears because it looks like an exact copy of Sony’s previous line, the W980i. So what is so dissimilar about the new W595 that Sony had to launch it separately? The very reason why W580i and W910i were unpopular contributed toward such a step. W980i was an eye-catching beauty until the phone was switched on and lo it ended right there! The W580i phone faced the problem of being very brittle and a lot of such complaints were lodged against the model.

Sony Ericsson W595 Features

W595 promises to be stronger than its predecessors weighing heavier by 20 gms for the new firmware but on the reliability part, the company still needs to work a lot in terms of restoring trust among customers.

On the outside the phone has a rubbery finish which gives a better grip to the holder and is slightly taller than normal phone size. The grip however seems to vanish once the phone is opened sliding up and this can make handling an open phone a little tougher unless you grip the keypad which invariably you do.

<a rel="nofollow"href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/W595.jpg">

He screen is 2.2 inches which is by no means a very great sized screen but the TFT display has been equipped with accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate. The phone is Java enabled with MIDP 2.0 installed in it.

The 950mAh battery is an excellent choice too, something that only the Premier sets of Nokia offer, the W595 claims of a massive nine hours of talk time and 385 hours on standby. It can run up to 26 hours on music and around 4.5 hours on a 3G phone.

Heavily geared towards social networking websites over a phone, the W595 allows one to upload pictures to Facebook, MySpace and Bebo and video to YouTube.

Sony Ericsson W595 Review

One the negative side however, one would be disappointed by the handset as it can get sufficiently get warm when in use, the 2GB bundled M2 card saves up for the hideous 40 MB memory of the phone itself, The camera offers a better quality in terms of better megapixel but however lacks flash which restricts dim light photography and low quality pictures despite the better camera and the most shocking drawback of the phone is that there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack.

Other special features may include the voice dialing facility, a louder and clearer speakerphone and premium games like Pacman and Worms 2007 (though they are Demo versions only)

The looks of the phone may be uninspiring, it may seem generic but it is not a model to be judged by its looks alone. Sony Ericsson has taken pains to design the W595 and its excellence is very well seen when one uses it. The features that it offers would not be easily available when you associate the price with it. The phone seems to be quite reasonable on that front and has been more than quite a welcome in the marketplace.

Apple iPhone 3GS

Apple which has always been known for its superior product, once again comes out with its newest model the <a rel="nofollow"title="iPhone 3GS" href="http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/iphone-3gs/" target="_blank">iPhone 3GS for its users. iPhone 3GS which promises a good network speed & faster processing, extended battery life and various additional features.

Apple iPhone 3GS Features

The iPhone 3GS finally adds the regular cell phone features like video recording, voice dialing multimedia messaging. It runs faster as it promised & also battery life is longer; the multimedia with its killer ipod quality continues to shine.

<a rel="nofollow"href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Apple-iPhone-3GS1.jpg">

The external look of iPhone 3GS is exactly like IPhone 3G Model, it looks as sleek as it used to be and unique in it’s on way. Its display supports a finger print resistant oleo phobic coating which gives fewer smudges and finger prints. Both the models are virtually unnoticeable as both share the same dimension but iPhone 3 GS is slightly heavier (4.76 ounces as compared to 4.7 of iPhone 3G). It manages 16 M colours at a 320*480 resolution of display.

A number of features of iPhone 3G has been carried as same which could make you feel that nothing much has been changed. One of the most noticeable changed features is its boost in speed which one can notice when rebooting the phone and the amount of speed which kicks in. The camera resolution has been boosted from 1.5 to 3.15 megapixels and added a new feature “tap to focus” but has no editing features in it. The picture quality is good but far from great. The iPhone 3GS camera still lacks a flash or a front camera. The Wi-Fi support of 3G and iPhone 3GS remains the same. Though there has been no memory card but it comes with a 16 GB or 32 GB internal memory.

Apple iPhone 3GS Hardware

In 3GS iPhone we got the 3.1 O/S update which increases the overall speed of the system. The boost in speed of the system is not mainly because of the O/S but for the hardware which has been upgraded from 3G’s 412 MHz processor of 128 RAM to 600 MHz processor of 256 RAM.

<a rel="nofollow"href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/iPhone-3GS-16GB.jpg">

Apple iPhone 3GS Advantage

This iPhone is a touch-friendly mobile with a superb touch screen UI. The advantage of this iPhone over other phone is Apples application store with its new 3GS one can create its own application store. The iPhone’s virtual QWERTY keyboard is one of the best which one could see in a touch screen phone.

<a rel="nofollow"href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Apple-iPhone-3GS-16GB.jpg">

Apple iPhone 3GS Multimedia

The iPhone’s 3GS has an excellent multimedia & playback capabilities. With a 3.5 mm jack in the market which ensures best music experience. Audio format support includes WAV, Apple Lossless, MP3, AAC (protected and DRM-free), and Audible, The large screen is ideal for watching movies and videos while it is limited to MP4, M4V, and MOV) but it does not support Divx & Xvid movies. It has not added much in multimedia segment of the interface of its original iPhone. The most significant enhancement is its Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, since the original iPhone lacked this important feature. The quoted Battery life is over 10 hours with moderate features like texting, music, browsing etc. but you would burn your battery in half a day if you use this phone for applications.

Though the Apple iPhone 3 GS does not make a huge success which iPhone 3G made but antes up the style quotient by improving upon the previous iPhone design and refining the available technologies. We appreciate the new features of speed processing, extended battery life, a best honed multimedia experience, a touch interface and last but not the least excellent selection of applications. It is expensive but one of the best phones which one can buy.

Nokia E71

E71 is a sexy new phone that one could admire to own, forming a new style statement just released by Nokia. Adhering to all the latest features, this phone comes power packed with its performance. The phone is just about 10mm thick which includes all the features one can find in the E series devices.

Nokia E71 Performance in the field of Display and styling

With the built it has got the phone is smaller than any other phones in the E series. Having a metallic body this phone is sure to attract all and make the owner feel special and of a new class. The size of the screen has been reduced to only 2.36 inches. However the resolution of the handset is 320X240 which seems crystal clear to your eyes.

The port for expandable memory is on the left spine of the handset and comes with 2GB microSD card included in the package. The phone has a 110MB internal memory. Coming to the right spine we would find the volume keys. The call handling capability is fine with no major issue.

<a rel="nofollow"href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Nokia-E71.jpg">

When compared to E6li or the E62 we see a lot of improvement in the keypad. Clicking over the keys is altogether a different experience than the previous E series phones. It includes the traditional text support which mostly is dropped by most of the QWERTY phones today. The texting fraternity would surely love this feature been included in this phone. There are separate options for the home with calendar option on its left. The phonebook and the messaging options are on the left of the keypad. Although keypad seems to be a good performer but the keys have been placed pretty closed which can lead to pressing of different keys on occasions.

Nokia E71 Connectivity

This light beauty is build on a Quad band and is a GSM phone supporting 3G & HSDPA It includes the Infrared as well as the Bluetooth connectivity options. There is also a Wi-Fi and a LAN option available for the people who might need to connect to the internet with any of these options. Included in the pack is also the data cable enabling access of your phone’s data on a PC or connect to the net via GPRS. The data cable connection port comes just beside its memory card slot.

<a rel="nofollow"href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Nokia-E71-Connectivity.jpg">

Nokia E71 Web Browsing, Messaging & Email

This is the best ever phone by Nokia for browsing the net on phone. One does not require inputting the server information and just can surf directly with the GPRS services enabled.

Same is the case in the WI-Fi connectivity where one can just go about by entering their id & password over their various email accounts over the internet. Besides this improvement in the connectivity options, messaging has improved considerably and now one can play around a lot more with the options available and the notification options.

The mobile browsing feature has improved over the other handsets of this series but one of the newest killer features included in the handset is the inclusion on the YouTube videos option inside the browser itself. Now one can actually browse streaming videos inside the browser itself rather than a new browser popping out.

Nokia E71 Modes

A new feature that has been devised in the handset is the option of separating the work life and personal life. It sports two home screens which would enable a user to have personal mail account shown up on the screen with another screen showing the corporate mail account, a brand new feature on itself. If this feature gets a bit improved then Nokia could actually cause some damages to the iPhone also.

Nokia E71 Software

Based on the Symbian Os version 9.2 of the S60 feature pack this phone has some of the software preloaded in it. Some of those which prove to be highly useful for the users are: Adobe PDF Reader, Quickoffice, Active Notes, etc.

Nokia E71 Camera & Multimedia

The camera which this beauty sports is a 3.2mp camera having the flash and zoom feature. The photos clicked from this are decent considering this as a business phone rather than a fun phone. It has the capacity of recording in the VGA (320×240px) format. It also has a camera in the front for video calling.

<a rel="nofollow"href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Nokia-E71-Camera.jpg">

It has a single speaker at top left of its screen which is pretty louder than E61i and has a pretty good playback although sometimes music could be choppy. The music playback time is around 18 hours on a stretch. A new 3.5 mm port would have been appreciated if included in this handset rather than a 2.5mm. The phone also has an inbuilt radio. One can capture videos for maximum an hour. It has a Real Player and also supports almost all the latest formats.

Nokia E71 Battery

It has a pretty improved battery backup with 10 hours of support on a GSM or 2G talk time. The battery is of 1500 mAh.

<a rel="nofollow"href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Nokia-E71-Battery.jpg">

Concluding Remarks

With the view that this phone is targeted at the business fraternity and would be competing with business phones such as Blackberry it turns out to be a good performer. The expected price of the wonder is around Rs.20,000.

BlackBerry Bold 9700

You can never expect the company that has held market esteem for so long to give you anything other than pure bliss. Blackberry has done it again by delivering what can be distinctly termed as ‘pure blackberry bliss’. The <a rel="nofollow"title="Blackberry Bold 9700" rel="nofollow" href="http://uk.blackberry.com/devices/blackberrybold9700/" target="_blank">Blackberry Bold 9700 is yet another amazing addition to the list of proliferations that the company has on offer. The phone is the flagship model for RIM and boasts of a better processor than its predecessor and also the latest technology in user interface.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 Features

Stunning Looks

The phone has an amazing look that speaks volumes about sophistication and an unparalleled coolness. The predecessor Bold 9000 was a super hit and this model takes all the plus points of the model and then adds its styling as to being more pocket friendly and hence the excitement surrounding the product.

<a rel="nofollow"href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/BlackBerry-Bold-9700.gif" target="_blank">

The phone measures 4.29 inches by length and 2.36 inches by width. It has a 0.56 inches thickness all around. This light-weight wonder is extremely easy to carry around as well. It has rightfully made its place as one of the most pocket friendly phones that is currently available in the market. The stylish look is complete with a dash of chrome in the body and a nice leather feel in the battery region of the mobile phone, which is a healthy respite from its predecessor where it had complete black leather back. Going by looks, less leather accentuates the overall feel of the mobile.

Fully Packed and Parceled

The phone again has everything that you may expect out of your business phone. 3G connectivity, that has become a must have in almost all business phones now is incorporated in this model. Then there is the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity that has made it almost unstoppable. Keeping the multi-purpose point of view in mind, the phone has also been equipped with the important camera feature and boasts of a 3.2 mega pixel camera that is further complemented with a half VGA display.

The internal storage capacity of the phone is only a 256 MB but the flagship company RIM has added a 2GB Micro SD card to go along with it. They say god lies in the details and the designers have tried to do just that, you will be delighted to see the beautiful details on the phone from all possible angles. The most important one being that the phone does not need to remove the battery from its console to change the memory card, rather they have added another door in the background that makes it easier to remove and add memory cards. The external memory can be increased to up to 32 GB to make sure that you can carry your movies and music even when you are on the move.

Easy and Simple Navigation

The keyboard follows the norm of the business phones and thus has a QWERTY keyboard. Besides, there are easy access buttons that are added on to the keyboard to make navigation from different applications as easy as a child’s game. They have a dedicated camera button, a music button and data connection keys. There is another key which can be programmed to make your own application shortcut.

Better Productivity

Blackberry users will now have a ball here, as the phone replaces the trackball with a trackpad. The trackball has been immensely popular and almost synonymous with blackberry for days together but it has now been replaced for good. You would not want a business phone that you need to charge every now and then. A short battery life for a business phone mars all its capabilities to amaze. The Blackberry Bold 9700 has taken note of this very important fact and comes with six hours continuous talk time and a whooping 21 days of standby battery backup. This is the best battery specification that blackberry has come up with till date.

The Blackberry 5.0 operating system is installed in this phone, which has been preferred over the year to other operating systems available for business mobile phones otherwise. The call quality that Blackberry provides is unmatched, it is extremely clear minus any hassles that one may otherwise face.

To sum up

Simple to use, convenient to carry, the phone is an absolute treat for the mobile lovers. Though it has its minor share of ups and downs, it’s truly a praiseworthy addition to the Blackberry family and the cell lovers have already started loving it.

HTC Desire

The HTC Desire is the new and amazing phone from the HTC family. It was launched after the <a rel="nofollow"title="HTC Legend" href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/htc-legend/" target="_blank">HTC Legend and is bigger, faster and more powerful. It has the Android punch like that of the Legend. The phone comes with a large screen but this does not make the phone look huge and weighty. There are four buttons on the front side of the phone, which are set in a very attractive way with aluminium. The phone has an optical track pad, which is tuned to register the finger motion over the sensors.

HTC Desire Features

Eye-catching display

The <a rel="nofollow"title="HTC Desire" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.htc.com/uk/product/desire/specification.html" target="_blank">HTC Desire has a very slim look and it has a dimension of about 119 X 60 X 119 mm. It is also very light weight and weighs just about 133 grams. Due to the dimensions and the weight, the phone is sleek to look at and very comfortable to hold. There are four buttons on the top of the phone – Home, Back, Menu and Search. Apart from these four buttons on the phone, there is also a terminator track pad that acts like an enter key. The two-tone finish makes the phone look much smaller than it is.

<a rel="nofollow"href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/HTC-Desire.jpg" target="_blank">

Easy and smooth navigation

On the left side of the phone are the up and down buttons of the phone and there is also a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the top side of the device. The phone also has a power button, which acts as the lock key. The phone has a micro SD slot, which is at the bottom of the phone. The card can be used to expand the memory of the phone.

User-friendly interface

The screen of the phone is simply amazing and it beautifully brings out the colours. The screen measures about 3.7 inches and is a good size to browse the internet and to enjoy the media features. The phone screen registers the slightest of touch, which makes it even more user-friendly.

The phone has a compact and sleek design and is a perfect business phone. The best feature of the phone is a Sense UI interface. HTC has put forth massive efforts in designing the device and added its own options and widgets. As a default setting, a large display clock is included in the phone and the phone also displays the weather of the area. The fact that makes it technologically brilliant is that phone changes its colour with the weather. The screen shines if it is sunny and there is a wiper as well to clear water droplets in case it rains. Again, the screen turns cloudy if the weather is foggy.

Other features you will simply admire

Some of the other advantages of the phone are the dual band 3G support and quad band GSM. The touch screen is easy to use and has a 16 M colour captive AMOLED screen. The build quality is great and the profile slim, which makes it simply irresistible. The HTC Desire has a ROM of 512 MB and a RAM of 576 MB. The capacitive display makes the phone react even to the gentlest taps.

The phone is equipped with a 5 mega pixel camera and has features like geo-tagging and LED flash. It comes with a 4GB card to expand the memory and proximity sensor and accelerometer as well. The HTC Desire has a 3.5 mm audio jack and a stereo Fm radio and also the features of smart dialling.
The navigation features and the media applications run smoothly on the phone. The phone is great for the purpose of social networking as well and you can easily get connected to FaceBook, Twitter and the like even on the move. You may as well share videos and photos and also use YouTube and Flickr.

To sum up

The phone is feature rich and gives a great impression when one gets a hang and feel of it. With amazing speed, high-end features, amazing looks, the handset is surely a treat for the gadget-freaks who feels that their phone is more than just a calling and messaging device. Though there is a slight room for improvement, the claim falls true for any technological device that brings home stunning brainwork and captivating design.

LG BL20

The iPhone might be popular with a lot of people these days, but old classics still endure. There is still a market for phones released in the middle of the decade, around 2006 and 2007. In those years, the camera and touch screen phones that were made were considered high-end, and their prices reflected it. However, while those ‘old’ models of cell phones might not be considered so technologically advanced or even fashionable by today’s standards, they are by no means inefficient. In fact, if anything, they are sturdier, sleeker and last longer than many phones made nowadays. This article will review one such phone that was manufactured and released a couple of years ago, the <a rel="nofollow"title="LG BL20" href="http://www.lg.com/uk/mobile-phones/all-lg-phones/LG-camera-phones-BL20.jsp" target="_blank">LG BL20, also known as the Chocolate BL20.

LG BL20 Features

The primary things one looks for in a mid-range phone are looks, battery-life, features, camera, and last but not the least, band compatibility. In the looks department, the LG Chocolate BL20 gets an 8 on 10, because of its smooth, sleek, and stylish exterior, tastefully done up in a darker tones of black and red. Its slider mechanism allows the top part of the phone to slide up to reveal a reasonably large numeric keypad, recessed into the base, but not hindering typing in any way. Also, when the screen slides up, its directional keys discreetly light up, signaling that the phone has left standby mode and is fully operational. These directional keys are not actual keys; that is, they cannot be pressed. This is due to the fact that they are in fact touch sensitive keys which only need to be lightly tapped. These keys, including the central one, can be programmed as shortcut keys that provide one-touch access to selected functions or applications. Even the volume-control and camera zoom keys located on the side of the phone are touch sensitive.

<a rel="nofollow"href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/LG-BL20.jpg" target="_blank">

This phone was amongst the first that allowed touch-based phone navigation. The phone isn’t heavy at all, but is loaded with some great features. While camera phones had been around for a while since the early years of the 21st century’s first decade, this was one of the first phones to amalgamate a 5 megapixel camera into the phone design, thus providing users with a tool that could be used as much for vacation photography as it could for making business calls. The phone also has dedicated ‘widget’ keys that launch a pre-selected application speedily. As for connectivity and band compatibility, the phone has Bluetooth for wireless data transfer, and runs on a Quad-band network, which means that you can take it with you wherever you travel without it refusing to function the moment you land on foreign shores. The LG BL20 phone’s battery-life is pleasingly long, and you don’t have to worry about your phone getting turned off if you play a game on it for more than twenty minutes. As with every phone, though, there must be minus-points as well.

LG BL20 Review

Fortunately, there aren’t many things wrong with this phone. If there is a complaint, it is mainly that the phone doesn’t have a document-reader, which doesn’t appeal to a lot persons who want to use their phone as much for work as for chatting and pleasure. Also, the memory card slot (yes, this phone has expandable memory!) is located in an inconvenient spot, right beneath the battery cover. This means, if you want to swap memory cards, it will take some fiddling around to do so.

Apart from this, there’s really nothing bad to be said about this phone. It’s not crazily expensive like a lot of phones offering similar features and functionality are, and its subtly rich appearance is guaranteed to draw more than a few looks.

HTC Legend

The HTC Legend, a product of the Taiwanese firm that had produced the HTC Hero, was launched at the Mobile World Congress in Spain. It is the first of the duo of the Android 2.1 phones and it does make a pretty neat impression. The operating system that it uses is the Android OS 2.1 which is Google’s latest and most popular OS. And also, it is HTC’s first Android device that comes with the Sense UI technology. The first aspect you will notice is the smooth aluminum body and the resolution OLED screen. This phone is so strong that it will remain as good even if you throw it against the wall. It is a solid phone yet lightweight due to the use of aluminum. In fact, due the adapted production process used, the phone’s body is actually one solid piece and the hardware is installing post building of the body.

<a rel="nofollow"rel="nofollow" href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/HTC-Legend.jpg" target="_blank">

HTC Legend Features

The <a rel="nofollow"title="HTC Legend" href="http://www.htc.com/uk/product/legend/overview.html" target="_blank">HTC Legend comes with a capacity touch screen that reacts promptly to finger commands. Compared to the Hero, the display resolution is also enhanced and offers 384.00 pixels. Due to the AMOLED technology used the display, color, contrast and visual effect is indeed great. As long as you decrease the screen brightness a little bit, this phone can be used in sunny climes without difficulty of poor performance. Those who are accustomed the Hero will find many similarities between the two models but the Legend boasts of better quality speaker that is really loud! In contrast to the Hero, the Legend does not a big battery cover instead the battery, SIM card and the micro SDHC card are all at the bottom hidden by a small rubber cover. The speaker, camera (5 mega pixel) and LED flash are located at the top and are covered by rubber too. In terms of touch, while the Legend isn’t too slippery, the Hero does provide a better grip and is warmer to hold. And while the aluminum body does make it one of the best looking phones of 2010 the only problem is that it can get scratched pretty easily by other metal objects likes keys or coins.

HTC Legend Advantage

Coming to the software, the advantage with Legend is that users are able to view all 7 home screens at one go. Another useful update is the text highlight tool so we no longer have to guess where we are highlighting and this is accompanied by a shortcut bar for copying, sharing and searching. The screen supports the multi-touch technology by which you can use 2 fingers to operate the display. The Legend also offers a wider range of choices for audio entertainment than the Hero as it supports formats such as AAC, AMR, MP3, OGG, M4A, WMA, MID and WAV. The FM radio too is nicely programmed to auto-scan channels at the first boot. The speed of the Legend is also twice as much as the Hero requiring about 20 seconds to boot. The major drawback of the Legend however is that its battery power is not sufficient for those who need to use the phone non-stop. Another aspect where the Hero scores is the Wifi reception which is weaker in case of the Legend. The camera has certain features lacking such as a flash that works beyond just 2 meters and the zoom option.

All in all, the Legend is quite a stunner in terms of software as well as hardware design and toughness of body. While it does have major kinks with battery life and video recording as well as some minor kinks, it does provide an upgrade on most other features over the Hero.

Nokia N900

If you think the <a rel="nofollow"title="Nokia N900" href="http://www.nokia.co.uk/find-products/all-phones/nokia-n900#/main/landing" target="_blank">Nokia N900 is part of the traditional Nokia’s N-series, think again. This phone may look a bit similar, but that’s it. It’s a full QWERTY side-slider, and it gives you the best of both worlds, as well as the full Nokia experience. The best things about this phone are its connectivity and web-browsing. There is also high-resolution display, and it’s very easy to type on the phone. But all said and done, the N900 is different – it’s a Maemo-powered phone with unlimited connectivity and Mozilla browsing.

Nokia N900 Features

Key features of the N900 include 32GB onboard storage, Maemo 5 OS, 5 MP autofocus camera with dual LED flash and active camera lens cover, state-of-the-art Mozilla-based web browser with Adobe Flash 9.4 support, 3.5” color resistive touchscreen of WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) resolution, foldable kickstand, Wi-Fi and GPS with A-GPS, slide-out three-row full QWERTY keyboard, quad-band GSM and tri-band GSM support, proximity sensor, built-in accelerometer, FM radio receiver, FM transmitter, 3.5 mm audio jack and TV-out, great build quality, solid audio quality, contacts integration of Skype, Google Talk and other VoIP service, and kinetic scrolling.

<a rel="nofollow"rel="nofollow" href="http://www.mobilephone.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Nokia-N900.jpg" target="_blank">

Nokia N900 Disadvantages

However, this phone also has its share of disadvantages. For instead, it’s a little large and quite heavy to carry. There’s no smart and voice dialing, there’s also a lack of voice recorder, there’s no option of MMS, and no handwriting recognition either. The camera interface and features are outdated. There is also no pre-installed voice-guided SatNav application, and no FM radio application, even though the hardware is there. The 3G support is also limited in the US, no AT&T, and there is also limited third-party software availability.

Nokia N900 Advantages

But all said and done, the N900 seems set to be an all-service phone. The 16M-color WVGA screen is almost unmatched by other smartphones – and the platform limitations are hard to beat. The operating system is quite new, and seems good, and shows a lot of potential. Nokia is of course the world’s largest manufacturer of cellphones, by a huge margin. This phone marks a migration on the part of Nokia to Maemo – and this makes sense for Nokia’s smartphone strategy. The phone is not just a phone, it’s a dedicated Internet devices – it’s much smaller and sexier than the other devices in this category. Anyone making the switch from an N810 to an N900 will notice the changes in this phone – height and width have been substituted for thickness. It shows up quite a bulge in your pocket.

Nokia N900 Review

There are some unique Nokia elements about it – the spring-loaded slide for toggling the standby mode, there’s also a power button mounted on the dead center along the top edge. There is also a volume rocker, a 3.5 mm headphone jack (which doubles as a TV-out), a micro-USB port along the sides, and a two-stage camera button. The phone is simple and comfortable, typically Nokia.

The N900 has a very extensible, customizable home screen – you can not only drop widgets and bookmarks, and contacts just where you want them, there are a total of four panels which loop around as your swipe. The system works rather well – and the available screen is maximized to the fullest extent. If you tap the icon on the upper left, you are taken to the main menu. The system notifications are pretty cool – new text messages, emails, etc are displayed as a yellow bubble in the display’s upper left – and if you tap that you will be taken to the source of the notification, for instance, to the new SMS.
