The iPhone 3GS finally adds the regular cell phone features like video recording, voice dialing multimedia messaging. It runs faster as it promised & also battery life is longer; the multimedia with its killer ipod quality continues to shine.

The external look of iPhone 3GS is exactly like IPhone 3G Model, it looks as sleek as it used to be and unique in it’s on way. Its display supports a finger print resistant oleo phobic coating which gives fewer smudges and finger prints. Both the models are virtually unnoticeable as both share the same dimension but iPhone 3 GS is slightly heavier (4.76 ounces as compared to 4.7 of iPhone 3G). It manages 16 M colours at a 320*480 resolution of display.

A number of features of iPhone 3G has been carried as same which could make you feel that nothing much has been changed. One of the most noticeable changed features is its boost in speed which one can notice when rebooting the phone and the amount of speed which kicks in. The camera resolution has been boosted from 1.5 to 3.15 megapixels and added a new feature “tap to focus” but has no editing features in it. The picture quality is good but far from great. The iPhone 3GS camera still lacks a flash or a front camera. The Wi-Fi support of 3G and iPhone 3GS remains the same. Though there has been no memory card but it comes with a 16 GB or 32 GB internal memory.

In 3GS iPhone we got the 3.1 O/S update which increases the overall speed of the system. The boost in speed of the system is not mainly because of the O/S but for the hardware which has been upgraded from 3G’s 412 MHz processor of 128 RAM to 600 MHz processor of 256 RAM.

Audio format support includes WAV, Apple Lossless, MP3, AAC (protected and DRM-free), and Audible, The large screen is ideal for watching movies and videos while it is limited to MP4, M4V, and MOV) but it does not support Divx & Xvid movies. It has not added much in multimedia segment of the interface of its original iPhone. The most significant enhancement is its Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, since the original iPhone lacked this important feature. The quoted Battery life is over 10 hours with moderate features like texting, music, browsing etc. but you would burn your battery in half a day if you use this phone for applications.

Though the Apple iPhone 3 GS does not make a huge success which iPhone 3G made but antes up the style quotient by improving upon the previous iPhone design and refining the available technologies. We appreciate the new features of speed processing, extended battery life, a best honed multimedia experience, a touch interface and last but not the least excellent selection of applications. It is expensive but one of the best phones which one can buy.
